dc.description.abstractProvides an illustrated guide to growing pre-European Maori kumara in the traditional manner based on research undertaken on experimental kumara gardens over the past decade. A brief history of Maori kumara and its arrival from Polynesia is given followed by instruction on setting up a traditional kumara garden, covering selecting a site, cultivation, planting, weeding, harvesting and storage.
