dc.description.abstractThe Open Polytechnic of New Zealand uses a range of strategies to support the diverse needs of its indigenous students; one is highlighted. This paper describes a project which aimed to enhance first year student engagement, retention and success through the provision of culturally relevant peer support. The programme encouraged and supported students to actively engage with their learning, complete their courses successfully and re-enrol.
