Abstract
This paper seeks to explore how relevant social constructivism is to the design of the learning experience in the vocational e-learning context. Creating engaging individualised learning through the use of online simulations and demonstrations should be the backbone for vocational e-learning where collaboration is not an essential component of the learning process. In other words, collaborative learning should only be placed centre stage in e-learning environments where there is a requirement for collaborative knowledge construction. It is not a fit for all.
